Frequently Asked Questions - Nadia Kriger Photography

Frequently Asked Questions

I have put together a list of commonly asked questions to help you navigate through the thought process of the photography services I provide. Asking questions is a vital part of the work we will do together and establishes a framework for our artistic abilities and a relaxed and fun working atmosphere. Together, we will work to achieve exactly what it is you expect out of your session. Feel free to reach out with any questions you might have. I am honored that you’re considering me to capture your treasured moments and strive to create a product you will treasure for years to come.

How do I book a session?

Thank you for considering Treasured Moments Photography for your photography needs! Please express your interest though my “Contact Me” page on my website or by calling me at (757) 286-1722 so that we can determine an available date for your photo shoot. Once the date is determined, I will email you a Client Questionnaire (just some questions to get to know you and make your photo shoot the most pleasant and unforgettable experience possible), a Contract (just to make sure that we are on the same page as far expectations go), and a PayPal Deposit Invoice. The deposit is a non-refundable $50 fee to secure your photo shoot date and will be applied towards your session fee. Once I receive your deposit, your photography session date is booked. Your session must be paid in full before the day of the photo shoot. I accept PayPal, Credit Cards, checks, and cash for your convenience.

What does the session fee include?

Detailed information as to what is included in each type of a photo shoot/session is provided on the Investment Information page. From there, click on the subcategory that you are interested in. For a limited time only, I am offering incredibly low prices for all of my sessions. I am doing this only because I would like to gain a wider variety of experience. This is not to say that you are getting an inferior product! In fact, quite the opposite is true! My confidence as a photographer stems from satisfied clients. To date, even though I am a fairly new photographer, I have not yet had a client who was not thrilled with their images or their photo shoot experience. My hope for Treasured Moments Photography is to become a legitimate, successful business. For the time being, I am choosing to focus on attracting diverse opportunities to enrich and expend my shooting and editing skills. As result, your photography session fee INCLUDES: photographer’s time and talent, generally separately priced as “session fee”, fully edited and enhanced file of digital images formatted for print, Print Release should you choose to print at a printer of your choice (although I strongly advice you have your images professionally printed), a file of enhanced digital images formatted for social media, and a private online gallery for easy viewing, downloading, sharing and ordering of prints. All this for ONE very low fee AND images worthy to adorn your walls and be treasured for years to come. I take pride in my work and work from my heart.

What happens during the photo shoot?

I strive to provide a relaxed and fun atmosphere for your photoshoot. That’s where the Client Questionnaire comes in. Your answers will help me get to know you, your style, expectations, any health conditions, preferences, likes or dislikes, etc. I love and specialize in natural, organic style of photography, which involves capturing real moments and emotions while only slightly guiding the poses to create artistic yet authentic masterpieces you will want to display and treasure for years to come. I want you to enjoy your photo shoot experience as much as you will enjoy the finished product. I intent for this to be an enjoyable and unforgettable experience for you!

What happens after the session?

Session editing is normally done within two weeks, however, I usually post a “sneak peek” or two on Facebook shortly after the session for you to enjoy (unless you expressly object). I will communicate with you when your images are ready and when your personal gallery, pin, and Print Release are available. From your private online gallery you will be able to view your gallery, share access to it, order prints and products, download images, and ask any questions you might have.

Am I allowed to pick the pictures I want edited or how I want them edited?

In short, the images you get and how they are edited is a joint effort. My goal is for you to be wowed and completely satisfied with your images. My hope is that your images do not just live in online storage or hard drives, but are displayed on the walls of your home and enjoyed for years to come. If there are specific styles you are looking for, we will discuss that before the session begins so that I have it in my mind as I’m shooting. All photos in your online gallery, regardless of size print you’re ordering or not printing at all, will be fully edited.

How do I decide on clothing choices?

For detailed answer to this question, please visit “Things To Know” page. In short, we can work together if you would like to make sure the clothing options are the perfect representation of your style and artistic needs.

How do I choose a location for my themed session?

It will be a collaborative process on picking the most well suited location based on the look you’d like to achieve for your photos. Do you offer headshots on location? Yes. I can come directly to your office, warehouse, or workspace. However, the time availability for on location headshots is very limited.

How long does a session last?

The answer depends on the time of session you’re interested in. A typical session from start to finish is generally 1.5 hours. A newborn session is generally 2-4 hours.

How should I prepare for my shoot?

After you book a shoot we will work together to go over the details of your wardrobe to complement our ideas, decide shoot location, and what you need to bring the day of the shoot. Every last detail will be well thought out and planned.

When you are doing a session with my child, what do I as the parent do?

You will be on location the entire time during the shoot. Your child will work best if you are not a distraction to the work we are doing, but I want you in the background where you can see your child. If this is a family photo shoot or a newborn session, this, of course, would not apply.

What print finish should I get?

The short answer is that if it will be behind glass or will be handled like wallet prints, you’ll want a matte or lustre finish. I prefer glossy in most applications. It has that great shine and deep colors which really makes the photo pop. Applications that I would get glossy prints in would include your run of the mill 4X6, photo albums, framed without glass, portfolios, and many other ways you choose to share and display the photograph. Lustre is much flatter then glossy but has a much better look than a matte finish. It is in between the two finishes and cuts down on glare while keeping good depth in the photo. I will choose lustre for a majority of my black and white pieces as I think it sets the mood and feel of most black and white works of art better. Whenever I frame any photo behind glass I will get it done in the lustre finish. The glass will add the glossiness that you lost with the lustre finish. When you frame a glossy print behind glass you end up usually getting a reflection off the print which can degrade the quality and cheapen the look of your framed artwork. You will also notice any waviness of the print behind the glass which is minimal with a lustre finished print.

How do I order my photos?

You may order your prints though me or from your online gallery. Never hesitate to ask me any questions about ordering prints because your prints are very important to me. Your prints are an extension of my work, so I always want to make sure you get the best possible product.

Do you print your own prints?

I do not do my own printing, but I order all prints from a couple of high quality professional labs that my monitor is calibrated with.

How long does it take to get my prints?

Product creation times vary, however in general, print orders will be completed within 2-5 days after the product order is submitted.

Do you offer Gift Certificates?

Yes, in any amount. Gift certificates are the perfect gift for anyone looking to book with me or someone who is ready to make a custom portraiture investment.

Do you have a Client Referral Program?

Yes, I do. There is no better compliment to my work than a kind word of mouth from a happy client! As a way to thank you for your advertisement, for each referred booked session you receive a $50 discount for your next session.

Do you travel to meet clients?

Yes, within a 50 mile radius of Martinsville, Virginia. Depending on the package level you choose there may be a charge outside of this area.

What rights do I have to the digital prints?

You have the right to reprint all of your images. However you may not sell your images for a profit or publish your images without the written consent of Treasured Moments Photography.

Do you do photography classes or training?

I do offer one-on-one basic photography training.
